In 2 years, India will be completely free of toll booths
Speaking at the ASSOCHAM Foundation Week program, Gadkari said, "With the help of the Russian government, we will finalize the GPS system as soon as possible, then in 2 years, India will be completely toll-free." It may be mentioned that at present all commercial vehicles in the country are equipped with tracking system. So the government will work fast to install GPS system technology in all old vehicles.
Revenue could rise to 1.34 trillion in 5 years
The use of GPS technology could increase the toll revenue of the National Highways Authority of India to 1.34 trillion in 5 years. The Minister said, “Yesterday a presentation was made using GPS technology for road transport and highways and toll collection in the presence of the Chairman, NHAI. We expect our toll revenue to reach Rs 1,34,000 crore in 5 years. ”
Decision for independent movement of vehicles
The government is taking this special step for the free movement of vehicles across the country. In the last one year, the central government has made Fastag mandatory on all toll plazas in the country. Fuel consumption has declined since the inevitability of Fastag. In addition, pollution has been reduced. The use of electronic toe collection devices has also encouraged cashless transactions. At the same time, transparency has been seen in toll collection.
