Whatsapp Privacy Setting feature For Groups Updates and Invitation

Instant messaging app WhatsApp announced a new privacy feature for Indian users a few months ago. These privacy features are specific to the Group. While the company said that this feature will be offered to Android and iOS users.

Under these new features, no users can add any other users to any group without their approval. Now this feature is being extended to more users. According to a media report, the company is increasing support for this feature. The group privacy setting is increasingly being offered to Android and iOS users. This is necessary because some of these earlier users were added to any group without their consent.

However, users will now be informed more about these features when updating the app. Here users will find a screen where new group privacy settings are reported. Some options will be found in these settings. In which everyone, My Contacts or Nobody will go. If users select Nobody, then if one adds users to the group, then users will have an invitations request which they can access and declare. However after the update the Nobody feature has been replaced and the My Contacts except option has been given instead. That means you can now decide who can add to your group and who won't.

Check for the new option by going to WhatsApp Settings > Account > Privacy > Groups. The three options that now show up include Everyone, My Contacts, and My Contacts Except. When the feature first rolled out, there was a Nobody option, instead of the My Contacts Except option. This new option will let you select the users who have to gain approval before adding you to a group. You can either select a few users, or click on the Select All option to include the entire contact list.
